The storming of the Capitol
whether the assault was planned, semi-planned, or spontaneous, it was foolish and indefensible
The storming of the Capitol will go down as one of the most ill-judged pseudo-political moves of all time.
As I write this towards the end of January 2021 I’m still not at all sure whether the assault was planned, semi-planned(!), or spontaneous. Indeed it could be a mixture of all of those judging by the bewildered looks on the faces of some as the wandered the halls of power.
Either way it was foolish and indefensible. The behaviour inside ranged from harmless, to bizarre, to downright profane, to sheer vandalism and ultimately tragic in the injuries and loss of life. Pepper spray is no match for handguns.
It was simply bizarre that a crowd who would appear to be right-wing and in favour of law and order should attack the police like this in what can only be described as a riot.
(I comment a little on the matter of guns and the militarisation of the Police here)
Would I have joined in? Absolutely, categorically NO! And neither would the millions of ordinary Trump voters, many many of whom are God-fearing and a million miles from those who “prayed” in the house that day.
It really wasn’t funny, but the sight of ‘whats his name’ first removing his rather fabulous buffalo-like horned fur hat to reveal a woolly one and then worse still taking hat off to reveal his bald head was quite farcical. Not to mention the “prayers” that followed through his Bullhorn!
This guy says it better than me.
