The Call England – Malcolm in the Middle

The Call England

A day of prayer, fasting and worship for the nation.

The first non-sporting event ever held at Madejski Stadium

This was the first ever non-sporting event ever held in the relatively new Madejski Stadium. It took a lot of negotiating to convince the staff, not least the groundsmen, to allow their beautiful turf to be covered over and walked upon.

17,000 worshippers

On the day we had 17,000 people through the gates

The event appealed to a wide age range and people had travelled from as far away as Scotland in the U.K.

In fact we had visitors from Europe and a team over from the States.

The lasting memory of the day for some was the beautiful sunshine.

For others the memory was of a very very loud event that was almost deafening in places and echoed around the stadium.

I wasn’t really there!

I had the privilege of having been asked to manage all “front of house” on behalf of The Call team. It did mean that in an odd sort of way I wasn’t really there, being distracted all the time by practical management matter.

Madejski is a huge stadium when you have to get right round it or indeed even across the pitch.

I’ll spare you the anecdotes!

Sadly if you Google “The CALL England”, the only link you get is this which was written before the event.
