(April 13 2021) One of the first moves of the Biden administration was to reverse Trump’s southern border policy and stop building the wall. Withing months the results have been inevitable yet still staggering, a massive surge in illegal immigrants, drug-runners and child trafficking. It has got so bad that U.S. Sheriffs themselves (275 sheriffs from 39 states) have written to Joe Biden.

I read this in someone’s feed today ( 26th Jan 2021) responding to a comment about the Democrats, “I think they are going to suffocate anyone who does not sing from the same song sheet.” He said, “I think they are more clever than to do that. Biden will carry out the unpopular, woke stuff first which he has already started doing, take the flak for Covid deaths and job losses, then Harris will ride in on her charger of indeterminate colour and gender, ready for the next election. Appearing whiter than white whilst Biden is blamed for all of the crap. Biden is a sacrificial lamb 🐏 to the slaughter!“

We will of course “watch this space”, but I suspect that he may well be right.

These are going to be turbulent weeks, months and years. A President can’t just ignore half the people of his country.

Religion and politics have always been poor bedfellows. Biden’s claim to be a devout Catholic is an interesting one.

I am always very skeptical when the the terms “Faith” or “faith based” are used. It generally means “multi-faith” which means an acknowledgement of all religions, which of course is a nonsense because they can’t all be right and have equal value. Any endeavour to bring faiths together inevitably leads to a watering down to some sort of common denominator in which the first victim is truth. The head of any essentially secular nation is on a hiding to nothing trying to reconcile faiths. When Trump brought prayer into the Whitehouse no-one was under any illusion as to who would be being prayed to. Not so I fear with Joe Biden.

The energy question.

Renewable energy has to be the way ahead but I fully understand why Trump wanted to protect American communities that have been reliant on oil production. Ironically the Winter of 2021 has seen wind turbines all over the States grind to a halt as they freeze up and solar panels stopped from working by deep layers of snow.

Whereas Trump did not start any military campaigns and actively withdrew troops from Syria and Afghanistan, as well as brokering peace in the Middle East, Biden is likely to go back to the style of his predecessors.
