{"id":129,"date":"2017-06-27T17:04:42","date_gmt":"2017-06-27T17:04:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosstownservices.co.uk\/crossintown\/?page_id=129"},"modified":"2021-10-21T20:45:16","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T20:45:16","slug":"is-the-new-testament-reliable","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/crosstownservices.co.uk\/crossintown\/is-the-new-testament-reliable\/","title":{"rendered":"Is the New Testament reliable?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the secular source Wikipedia<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The <a title=\"New Testament\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Testament\">New Testament<\/a> has been preserved in <strong>more manuscripts than any other ancient work<\/strong>, having over <strong>5,800 complete or fragmented <a title=\"Greek language\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Greek_language\">Greek<\/a> manuscripts, 10,000 <a title=\"Latin\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Latin\">Latin<\/a> manuscripts and 9,300 manuscripts in various other ancient languages<\/strong> including <a title=\"Syriac language\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Syriac_language\">Syriac<\/a>, <a title=\"Slavic languages\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Slavic_languages\">Slavic<\/a>, <a title=\"Gothic language\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gothic_language\">Gothic<\/a>, <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Ge'ez language\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ge%27ez_language\">Ethiopic<\/a>, <a title=\"Coptic language\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coptic_language\">Coptic<\/a> and <a title=\"Armenian language\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Armenian_language\">Armenian<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are more manuscripts that preserve the New Testament than there are for any other ancient writing<\/strong>, the exact form of the text preserved in later manuscripts may not be identical to the form of the text as it existed in antiquity but are agreed by most scholars to be <strong>99.5% identical in content<\/strong>, with the differing .5% attributed to minor variations such as <strong>spelling<\/strong>.
